Seven Churches Of Asia; In the book of revelation, John is told to write in a book and to send it to the seven churches which are in Asia. Which are Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. ( And unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write ) angel here just means messenger, one that will receive the message from John and read it to the church. The Lord lets them know that he is right there in the mist of the church. As he always is when two or more are gathered to gather in his name. He wants them to know, Tho they still have their place in the body of Christ. ( the church ) Tho they are still carrying on with the working of the church. And are doing things that they consider important, and they are important. That they have become so busy doing so, That is taking up the biggest part of their life. That they have lost sight of what should be the most important thing in their life. The one that they should be spending most of their time with. Which is their Lord and savior Jesus Christ They have let slip, that if they seek the kingdom of God first and his righteousness, that all other things will fall into place. The Lord wants and demands to be first and foremost in our life. And warns them that if he does not become so. He will remove them from their place in the body of Christ. ( Rmember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick ( their church ) out of his place. ( place in the body of Christ ). SMYRNA: The Lord tells John to send a copy of the book that he is writing to the church that is in Smyrna. The Lord starts off by telling the church. that their work in the body of Christ has not gone unnoticed. And that he knows of their poverty. That in the carnal they may be considered to be poor by the world. But wants them to know that in actuality they are rich. ( remember the kingdom of heaven is the inheritance of the saints ) He wants to warn them of things that are comming upon them in their near future. So that they might be prepared, ( He tells them: fear none of of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days, ( remember going thru tribulation is nothing new to the saints of God. ) be thou faithful unto death, and I will give you a crown of life ) There's some of the riches we were talking about. All the money in this world, will not buy a crown of life. He talks about them that say that they are Jews, but are not. Remember the wheats and the tares, how that the tares were put there by the enemy. ( Satan ) Comming to church every week confessing that they know Christ but in works do deney him. Which cannot bring forth good fruit because they are a corrupt tree. The bible says to try them and prove them that say they are apostals. Not just to put any one that comes in, in a position in the church. Otherwise you might have some devil teaching you children in sunday school. Next the church at Pergamos James Walker
